Obituary for Edward J. "Bucky" Mitchell, Sr.

Edward J.Mitchell, Sr. 'Bucky' of Marlton NJ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on May 7, 2021. He was 84 years old.
Beloved husband of 63 years of Maryann Mitchell (nee Quinn). Loving father of Edward J. Mitchell 'Bucky' Jr (Patti), Christopher M. Mitchell (Sheri), Michele D. Clancey (John), Marianne Andjel (Glenn), Karen Scocca (Joe), and Judith Marsden (Charles). Loving Pop Pop of Dan, Kelly, Leigh, Kelsey, Collin, Taylor, Shane, Alexis, Ryan, Matthew, Sean, Joseph, Michael, and Hayley. Great grandfather of Luke, Everett, Waverly, Brooks and Jameson. Dear brother of the late Pat Heintz, Andrew Mitchell, Jr., the late Thomas Mitchell, John Mitchell, Polly Ferguson, Michael Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, Nancy Martino and Teasie Maiorano and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Bucky grew up in Camden, married and moved to Marlton to raise his family. He was one of the first to buy a home in the Heritage Village section of Marlton and he and his wife were among the original parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Church. In 1971, they moved to Brush Hollow upon the arrival of their 5th child. In 1967, Mr. Mitchell founded and coached the Marlton Big Red Football. He had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching his children and the children of the Marlton Community learn and excel in sports. He was one of the founders of the Cherokee 5th Quarter Club and loved the time spent officiating basketball and umpiring baseball. Most recently, Bucky was inducted into the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame and Marlton Football Hall of Fame.
