Obituary for Charles Robert "Bob" Cooper

COOPER, Charles Robert "Bob", passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Sunday, May 23, 2021. Bob was 76 years old. He grew up in Clementon and graduated from Lindenwold Elementary, Middle Schools and Overbrook High School; class of 1963. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly served his country. He was awarded the Good Conduct Award and the National Defense Service Medal. Bob went on to continue serving his community and the state of NJ when he entered Sea Girt Academy in 1968 for the New Jersey Highway Patrol which then merged with the NJ State Police in 1984; he retired as Detective I in 1989. Upon his retirement from NJSP, he opened Bob Cooper Investigations. He worked for Hanover Insurance Company as a Fraud Supervisor and then became the National Director of Fraud for Rutgers Casualty Insurance Company. He finished his working career at Burlington County College where he served as a Lieutenant for the Department of Public Safety. In 2019, Bob co-authored the book, "History of the New Jersey Highway Patrol 1906-1984". Bob enjoyed many years coaching baseball in Tabernacle and served as Commissioner of the Tabernacle Athletic Association. Throughout his life, Bob mentored many officers; he imparted his wisdom, experience and knowledge. He lived his life proving his love for his country and community. He loved no one more than his wife, family, dog, Casey and his friends who he held in the same regard.
He is deeply loved and survived by his wife Carol J. Cooper (nee Hicks). He will be greatly missed by his children; Cheryl Horn (Robert), the late Charles Robert Cooper 'Bobby' whom he is now reunited with in Heaven, Nicole Rosato, Leslie Ripoli-Medina (Alex) and Ashley Barrera (Edio). Dearly loved grandfather and "Trooper" of Nicole Horn, Cameron Kile, Mackenzie Rosato, Elissa Rosato, Brianna Rosato, Edison Barrera and Camila Medina. Dear brother of the late Agnes Nolan (the late Chuck), Catherine 'Cass' Glossup (the late Hal) and Ray Cooper (Jackie). Bob will also be dearly missed by his lifelong best friend of 71 years, Russ Hume.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to this honorable man who will be deeply missed. His viewing will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2021 from 6-9pm and Wednesday June 2, 2021 from 10-11am at the Bradley Funeral Home 601 Rt. 73 South at Evesham Road, Marlton where a Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday. Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road North Hanover Township NJ.
